There are lots of choices out there for the collar, leash and other equipment you use on your dog. We suggest a simple flat collar, or a Martingale collar (if your dog may startle or react and is at risk of wiggling back out of his collar). Harnesses don't cause pulling, contrary to popular belief, and we recommend a well-fitted harness to take all pressure off your dog's neck. Long lines are an excellent choice for your puppies, as a long line can help minimize pulling so that your puppy never learns to pull at all. And, long lines take the tension off leashes so that your dog can learn and explore without leash pressure.
Of course, any and all equipment you choose to wear with your puppies & dogs, should be CONDITIONED positively, so that our dogs don't just tolerate these tools, but are happy wearing them, and happy to have them put on. You shouldn't have to 'man-handle' your puppy or dog to put on any collars, harnesses or leashes. Remember, we're all about 'cooperation' in positive reinforcement teaching.
