THAT'S MINE! GO AWAY!

'Resource Guarding' is a natural behavior for dogs. It is not an acceptable behavior in their lives with us, as it can be problematic and unsafe. Your dog may begin to guard food, objects, locations, their owners, their own bodies or even combinations of any or all! We can’t know what is going on in the mind of any dog at any time. We can, however, observe, identify, measure and modify behavior using well-established principles of operant and classical conditioning. Your reaction to the behavior can either help resolve your dog's resource guarding or make it worse. Let's start with a few preventative strategies around your puppy's meals. *If you already have a resource guarder, reach out to us for some coaching on how to change his feelings and his behaviors. We got ya!
